Ice was not necessary for this cooler to keep drinks cold. It was a little foldable cooler that, once frozen overnight, could keep beverages cold for several hours. To pitch their idea they made an appearance on Season 12 of Shark Tank. In order to expand their Chill System, Chase and Brian approached the Sharks for assistance.

They did not secure a deal with any of the Sharks. After the show aired, Chill Systems saw a big increase in website traffic, sales, and social media exposure. However, with the company facing challenges and eventually going out of business, the current net worth of Chill Systems is $0.

Chill Systems failed to survive long after making its appearance on Shark Tank. Sometime between 2021 and 2022, the Chill System went out of business. They stopped posting on social media and their website is no longer operational. 

Prior to the show, they had some success but the business couldn’t last. Chase and Brian have shifted their focus to other projects by 2024. Chill Systems is no longer operational since the product on which they had such faith was inadequate for maintaining the firm.

Chill System Shark Tank pitch

Brian Bloch and Chase Mitchell had an intense fascination with finding solutions for issues related to maintaining cold beverages. Both of them quit their promising careers at Apple and Google to pursue their goals of creating Chill Systems. Without ice or bulky coolers they aimed to develop a more environmentally responsible method of chilling beverages.

Their desire to reduce the amount of waste produced by plastic ice bags and facilitate the carrying of icy beverages served as their inspiration. The business had a tough start. They failed to turn a profit and had problems cutting production expenses.

Chase and Brian introduced Chill Systems to the Sharks describing their offering as an innovative type of cooler. It could keep drinks cold for hours without the need for ice. $150,000 for 15% equity was their request. 

They informed the Sharks that they had raised $50,000 through Kickstarter and had already sold $111,000 worth of coolers in just two years. The Sharks were unimpressed despite these figures. The founders acknowledged that their high production costs were costing them money with every transaction.

Regarding the Chill Systems product, the Sharks had a lot of questions. They questioned how it operated and why users would pick it over an ordinary cooler.

Daniel Lubetzky couldn’t see why people would go to the trouble of chilling it in advance and didn’t think there was a need for another cooler on the market. 

The business plan and the amount of money the Chill System was losing on each transaction worried the Sharks as well.

The business aspect of Chill Systems did not impress the sharks. Kevin O’Leary declared he disliked the product. Mark Cuban offered advice encouraging Chase and Brian to sharpen their proposal. Although he wasn’t interested in investing, he stated that they needed to get to the point more quickly. 

Robert Herjavec felt that the presentation and the product were not sufficiently compelling. While recognizing the necessity to reduce expenses, Lori Greiner declined the offer. Daniel Lubetzky wished them well but expressed doubt about the product’s future. Chase and Brian left without a deal since all of the Sharks chose not to invest.

What Went Wrong With Chill System On Shark Tank?

Chill Systems failed to close a deal on Shark Tank for a variety of reasons. First, there was the expense. Producing the product was costly and the business lost money on each cooler that was sold. Although they were only selling them for $30 the creators revealed that their initial production costs were $37 per cooler.

The Sharks were hesitant, even though they had successfully reduced the production costs to $18. The Sharks also thought there wasn’t a sizable enough market for the offering. They expressed dissatisfaction with the low sales during a two-year period and expressed concerns over the entire Chill System plan.

Product Availability

One of a kind was Chill Systems. It was a portable, lightweight cooler that ran on air without ice. Customers had to freeze the cooler for a full day before using it. It could maintain a cold drink for hours after freezing. It has the capacity to chill one bottle of wine or champagne or up to three beverages at once. 

Even with its ease, it failed to draw in enough clients to sustain the firm. The product isn’t available for purchase anymore. The business no longer maintains a website, and its social media pages have not been updated since 2021. Prior to shutting the business, the coolers were offered for sale online and on crowdsourcing websites such as Kickstarter.

Conclusion 

Chill Systems’ Shark Tank adventure did not turn up well. Brian and Chase had a strong desire to change the world and were passionate about their invention. The Sharks however didn’t think the Chill System was worth funding. Their worries about the product’s price and the low sales figures were excessive. 

Without a deal, Chill Systems had to exist and finally went out of business. Even if the business fails, Chase and Brian’s love for making environmentally friendly items may inspire them to take on new projects in the future. We will have to wait and watch if they develop a new idea.
